Eduardo Rodriguez (SP - ARI)
ERod had some positive news on his recent imagining. It showed healing, which means he’s closer to beginning a throwing program. The DBacks said ERod is still a month away from returning to the team.
Luis Rengifo (2B,SS,3B,OF - LAA)
It finally happened. Rengifo is headed to the IL with a viral infection. It doesn’t seem great that he needs an IL stint for an illness, but at least we have an idea of what is going on with Rengifo.
Luis Guillorme (2B,SS - LAA)
With all the injuries to the Angels' infield, they trade for Guillorme from the Braves for cash considerations. He was in the lineup on Thursday night, starting at 2B.
Anthony Rendon (3B - LAA)
To make room for all the roster changes, the Angels placed Rendon on the 60-day IL.
Niko Goodrum (2B,OF - LAA)
Goodrum was recently DFA’d by the Rays, and the Angels claimed him off waivers for more depth.
Zack Short (2B - ATL)
The Red Sox recently DFA’d Short, and today, he was traded to the Braves for cash considerations. Short will add infield depth off the bench.
Jung Hoo Lee (OF - SF)
Lee was out of the Giants' lineup on Thursday. He’s nursing a sore foot after fouling a ball off of it on Wednesday. He’s currently day-to-day.
Nick Ahmed (SS - SF)
Ahmed left Thursday’s game with discomfort in his left wrist. He said it’s been feeling worse the last couple of days, and he’ll have imaging done on Friday. Ahmed took a line drive off his wrist on April 27. Marco Luciano could get a shot if Ahmed needs an IL stint.
Paul Goldschmidt (1B - STL)
Goldy was out of Thursday’s lineup. He’s getting some extra rest to try to break out of his slump. I doubt that’s the answer, but it can’t hurt.
Gavin Williams (SP - CLE)
Williams was moved to the 60-day IL to make room for newly acquired RHP Darren McCaughman from the Marlins.
Josh Sborz (RP - TEX)
Sborz was placed on the IL with a right rotator cuff strain. A corresponding move will be made on Friday.
Robert Gasser (SP - MIL)
Gasser will be called up on Friday to make his MLB debut. In three AAA starts, he had allowed seven runs over 12 innings with 17 strikeouts.
Nick Burdi (RP - NYY)
Burdi will be activated on Friday to rejoin the Yankees. Burdi had a 1.42 ERA at AAA this season. Ron Marinaccio will be sent back to AAA.
Nick Gonzales (3B - PIT)
Skenes won’t be the only Pirate prospect joining the team this weekend. Gonzales is expected to be called up on Friday. Gonzales was hitting .358 at AAA with 14 doubles, two triples, and four home runs over 30 games.
Gio Urshela (3B - DET)
Urshela began his rehab assignment at AAA Toledo on Thursday. We may see Him back late this weekend or early next week.
