Gibson was placed on the bereavement list on Sunday due to a death in his family. Ryan Loutus was recalled to fill the roster spot for a few days.
Trea Turner (SS - PHI)
The Phillies announced on Sunday that Turner will be activated from the IL on Monday. No corresponding move has been announced, but getting Trea back in our lineups will be nice.
Jesse Winker (OF - WAS)
An MRI on Winker’s injured knee came back clean. He’s expected to rest for a few more days before returning to the Nats.
Willson Contreras (C - STL)
Contreras has been returning from his forearm injury, and he’s expected to begin a rehab assignment on Tuesday. Contreras was a popular pickup in Sunday’s Week 13 FAAB run.
Josh Jung (3B - TEX)
Jung was in the lineup for AAA Round Rock on Sunday. It was his first rehab start, and he’s expected back soon.
Justin Verlander (SP - HOU)
Verlander was scratched from his start on Saturday with discomfort in his neck. The Astros said they are hopeful he can return to the rotation in this upcoming series versus the White Sox, but nothing has been made official yet.
Jasson Dominguez (OF - NYY)
Dominguez was placed on the minor league IL on Sunday. There is no exact word for the injury, but it appeared to be something with his side.
Jose Caballero (SS - TB)
After missing a few games due to illness, Caballero was scratched from Sunday’s game due to calf tightness. He’s considered day-to-day.
Kyle Harrison (SP - SF)
Harrison was placed on the IL with a right ankle sprain. He was scheduled to start on Sunday, so the Giants played a bullpen game. There’s no word on what the Giants will do with Harrison’s rotation spot the next time.
Gerrit Cole (SP - NYY)
There’s a chance that Cole will make his season debut on Wednesday. The Yankees announced Nestor Cortes for Tuesday and Luis Gil for Thursday, leaving Wednesday TBD, which would be Cole’s turn for a rehab start anyway. Cole was great in his last rehab start on Friday, as he threw 70 pitches over 4.2 innings with zero earned runs, zero walks, and ten strikeouts.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto (SP - LAD)
Yamamoto was placed on the IL with a rotator cuff injury. Yamamoto will be shut down from throwing for a couple of weeks. Michael Peterson was recalled from AAA for the time being, and Bobby Miller will take Yamamoto’s spot in the rotation. The Dodgers will go back to a 5-man rotation until Clayton Kershaw returns.
Michael Grove (SP - LAD)
Grove was placed on the IL with a right intercostal strain. More info on the extent of the injury will come in the coming days. J.P. Feyereisen was recalled from AAA.
Jordan Lawlar (SS - ARI)
Lawlar underwent an MRI on his hamstring, which he injured on Saturday while rehabbing at AAA. He’s still day-to-day, but this setback would certainly help Blaze Alexander and Eugenio Suarez.
Steven Matz (SP - STL)
Matz threw three scoreless innings while striking out five in a rehab start on Sunday. Matz is expected to make one more rehab start as the Cardinals want Matz close to 80 pitches before he returns.
Yimi Garcia (RP - TOR)
Closers just can’t stay healthy in Toronto. Garcia left his outing on Sunday with two outs in the ninth as he suffered from elbow soreness. Nate Pearson came in and got the final out. Pearson may be next if Garcia misses time and Jordan Romano is still on the IL.
Hurston Waldrep (SP - ATL)
Many were excited when Waldrep was called up this past week, but after a rough start this weekend, Waldrep was sent back to AAA. Over two starts, Waldrep threw seven innings while allowing 13 earned runs with eight walks and three strikeouts.
William Contreras (C - MIL)
Contreras took a blow to the head on the final play of the game and after the game the Brewers said Contreras was undergoing concussion testing. He’s day-to-day for now.
Max Scherzer (SP - TEX)
It appears Scherzer is close to returning to the Rangers rotation. The Rangers said that Scherzer will rejoin the rotation later this week if he bounces back nicely from his rehab start this past Saturday.
Mookie Betts (2B,SS,OF - LAD)
Betts was removed from Sunday’s game after getting hit on the hand by a pitch. After the game, it was reported that Betts had fractured hand. The Dodgers said the injury will not require surgery, but Betts will miss a good amount of time. Miguel Rojas should get most of the reps at shortstop with Betts out. Miguel Vargas is expected to be recalled to add infield depth.
Luis Rengifo (SS,3B,OF - LAA)
Rengifo was removed from Sunday’s game after suffering an injury to his left wrist. It was diagnosed as a left wrist contusion and he expects to play on Monday but we will see after more testing.
Corbin Carroll (OF - ARI)
Carroll exited Sunday’s game with rib cage discomfort. He will stay in Arizona for further testing while the DBacks hit the road. Since he’s staying back, there’s a great chance that Carroll will head to the IL with a rib injury or an oblique injury.
Bryan Woo (SP - SEA)
Woo will return to the Mariners rotation and make his start on Wednesday. After the latest scare, it appears Woo will only miss one start.
Anthony Rizzo (1B - NYY)
Rizzo was removed from Sunday’s game in the 7th inning with a right wrist injury he suffered during a collision at first base. Rizzo will get X-rays, but the initial thoughts about Rizzo’s injury aren't great.
Looks like Ben Rice just got the call
Does the Rizzo injury create an opening for Spencer Jones?
