MLB News & Notes: August 26
Catch up on the major news from Monday with the fantasy impacts that follow.
Dylan Crews (OF - WAS)
The Nats made it official on Monday, recalled Crews from AAA to make his MLB debut. He was hitting second for the Nats, going 0-3 with a walk and a strikeout. Riley Adams was sent back to AAA.
Jacob Wilson (SS - OAK)
Wilson is set to return from the IL on Tuesday, and Darrel Hernaiz has returned to AAA. Hopefully, we’ll get a few games this time to see what Wilson can do at the big-league level.
Oneil Cruz (SS - PIT)
Cruz will move from SS to CF and play CF for the remainder of the season. Cruz should become SS and OF eligible for fantasy next season. IKF will be the primary SS, while Nick Gonzales will be the primary 2B.
Joey Bart (C - PIT)
Bart was placed on the IL with a hamstring strain. Henry Davis was recalled from AAA. Davis was hitting .314 with six home runs and seven stolen bases since he was last sent back to AAA on July 4.
Xavier Edwards (SS - MIA)
Edwards was placed on the IL with a back injury. With Edwards out, Vidal Brujan should get regular playing time at SS.
Griffin Conine (OF - MIA)
Conine was promoted on Monday for his MLB debut. Forrest Wall was DFA’d. Conine didn’t start on Monday but pinch-hit late in the game and struck out.
Jared Jones (SP - PIT)
Jones will be activated on Tuesday to make the start for the Pirates. Lake Bachar will return to AAA.
Nick Gonzales (2B - PIT)
Gonzales was activated from the IL on Monday. Jake Woodford was DFA’d.
Cole Ragans (SP - KC)
A left calf/hamstring cramp removed Ragans from Monday's start. After the game, the Royals said Ragans was doing well, and the removal was mainly precautionary.
Alec Marsh (SP - KC)
Marsh was recalled from AAA to be the 27th man for the Royals doubleheader. Marsh started Game 2, throwing 4.2 innings while allowing two earned runs and striking out two. He’ll likely head back to AAA after the game.
Will Smith (RP - KC)
Smith was placed on the IL with lower back spasms. Carlos Hernandez was recalled from AAA.
Daniel Lynch IV (RP - KC)
Lynch was recalled from AAA to add bullpen depth for the Royals. Angel Zerpa was sent back to AAA.
Brenton Doyle (OF - COL)
Doyle was scratched from Monday’s lineup with right leg soreness. He’s currently day-to-day.
Brad Keller (RP - BOS)
Keller was recalled from AAA to add bullpen depth for the Red Sox. Joely Rodriguez was DFA’d.
Weston Wilson (3B - PHI)
Wilson was placed on the paternity list on Monday. Buddy Kennedy was recalled from AAA to take Wilson’s spot on the roster for a few days.
Max Lazar (RP - PHI)
Lazar was recalled from AAA, while Kolby Allard returned to AAA after his spot start on Sunday.
Ky Bush (SP - CWS)
Bush was returned to AAA on Monday after a few rough starts with the White Sox. Sammy Peralta was recalled from AAA to add bullpen depth.
Bryan Ramos (3B - CWS)
Ramos was recalled from AAA on Monday. Ramos was hitting .236 with ten home runs and eight stolen bases in the minors this season.
Erasmo Ramirez (RP - TB)
Ramirez was recalled from AAA on Monday, while Jacob Lopez returned to AAA after his spot start on Sunday.
Randy Vasquez (SP - SD)
Vazquez was recalled from AAA to make the start on Monday. Vasquez threw six innings while allowing two runs and striking out two.
Jake Bird (RP - COL)
Bird was recalled from AAA to add bullpen depth for the Rockies. Peter Lambert returned to AAA.
Ryan Feltner (SP - COL)
Feltner was activated from the IL and made the start versus the Marlins. Lucas Gilbreath was placed on the IL with left shoulder inflammation.
Michael Harris II (OF - ATL)
Harris was out of Monday’s lineup after getting hit in the hand by a pitch on Sunday. Harris hopes to return after missing a few games with the injury later this week.
Javier Beaz (SS - DET)
Baez is done for the season after having season-ending hip surgery.
Will Vest (RP - DET)
Vest was placed on the paternity list on Monday. Mason Englert was recalled to take Vest’s spot for a few days.
Ty Madden (SP - DET)
Madden will be promoted on Monday to make his MLB debut. He threw five innings while allowing one earned run and striking out two. Bryan Sammons was sent back to AAA.
Jose Alvarado (RP - PHI)
Alvarado was placed on the restricted list on Monday to deal with a personal matter. Michael Mercado was recalled from AAA.
Justin Slaten (RP - BOS)
Slaten was activated from the IL on Monday, while Josh Winckowski returned to AAA.
Cooper Criswell (SP - BOS)
Criswell will make the start for the Red Sox on Tuesday.
Willson Contreras (C - STL)
Contreras cannot begin baseball activities due to his broken finger for three weeks. He’s a drop in all formats.
