Trout had his rehab shut down, and he underwent more testing in LA. That testing showcased a torn meniscus in Trout’s left knee, ending his 2024 season.
Adbert Alzolay (RP - CHC)
After suffering a setback in a recent rehab outing with a forearm strain. After some more testing, Alzolay will have season-ending surgery.
Tyler Mahle (SP - TEX)
After a successful rehab start on Wednesday, the Rangers believe Mahle will join their rotation next week. Mahle will take the rotation spot of Michael Lorenzen.
Jerar Encarnacion (1B - SF)
The Giants are expected to promote Encarnacion from AAA on Friday as they start a series in Great American Small Park. He traveled with the team to Cincinnati. Encarnacion joined the Giants on June 16, and over 33 games at AAA, he’s hitting .352 with ten home runs and a stolen base. He should take David Villar’s spot on the roster.
Jordan Westburg (2B,3B - BAL)
Westburg was placed on the IL with his right-hand fracture. Livan Soto was recalled to take his spot on the roster. Soto and Ramon Urias are expected to takeover Westburg for the time being.
Coby Mayo (2B,3B - BAL)
The Orioles are finally doing it. They are calling up Coby Mayo to make his MLB debut on Friday. Over 80 games at AAA this season, Mayo is hitting .301 with 23 home runs and three stolen bases. Let’s hope the Orioles do not screw this up and play Mayo daily in place of Jordan Westburg.
Heston Kjerstad (OF - BAL)
Kjerstad was sent back to AAA on Thursday. Eloy Jimenez will take Kjerstad’s spot on the roster. It was one of a handful of moves made by the Orioles after their trade deadline moves.
Parker Meadows (OF - DET)
Meadows is progressing nicely during his rehab assignment, and he’s expected to return to the Tigers this weekend. After a slow start to the year and a trip in the minors, Meadows was swinging it well before landing on the IL with a hamstring injury.
Michael McGreevy (SP - STL)
After a solid start on Wednesday and Lance Lynn going on the IL, many thought McGreevy would hang around and make another start or two. He still could, but for now, McGreevy was sent back to AAA to open a spot on the roster for Erick Fedde, who will start for the Cardinals on Friday.
Tanner Bibee (SP - CLE)
After his last start, Bibee experienced some discomfort in his shoulder. The Guardians will play it safe with Bibee and push his start back a few days. They are hoping Bibee will start early next week.
Alex Cobb (SP - CLE)
Cobb will make a rehab start on Saturday at AAA Columbus and then hopefully join the Guardians rotation next week.
Javier Baez (SS - DET)
Baez was activated from the bereavement list on Thursday.
Grant Holmes (SP - ATL)
The Braves were hoping Max Fried or Reynaldo Lopez could start on Saturday, but that will not happen as Grant Holmes will make another start for the Braves. Holmes threw five innings while allowing a run while striking out eight agains the Brewers in his last start on July 29.
Luis Rengifo (2B,SS,3B,OF - LAA)
Rengifo is out of Thursday’s game after leaving Wednesday with a hand injury. He said he’s feeling better today and is currently day-to-day.
Kenley Jansen (RP - BOS)
Jansen is day-to-day with lower back soreness. Rostering Luis Garcia would be wise.
