Fantasy Baseball WW/FAAB Preview Week 12
Get ready for this Sunday's FAAB with the full preview.
We have made it through another week of the season, which has been a doozie. Plenty of injuries have required attention on our fantasy teams. There have been some good and bad performances, which may have caused some overreaction. Most people need to take a deep breath and wait longer, while others will start dropping some solid players to pick up when they do.
Most weeks throughout the season, I’ll bring you some FAAB previews for your weekend FAABing. It’ll be similar to my work last year, where I highlight schedules, 2-start pitchers, and bats to add/stream for the week. For players to target, I’ll use NFBC OC roster rates and mention players available in 60% or less of leagues. If you have any questions, feel free to message me.
If you want a full FAAB preview, listen to Bubba & the Bloom EP 141.

FAAB/WW Hitting Targets (with quick thoughts)
Korey Lee (C - CWS) - If you are looking for a C2, then Lee is a nice option. He has three home runs and three steals since May 1 while hitting .242.
Joc Pederson (OF - ARI) - Joc Jams has quieted down in recent weeks but he’s still hitting .290 on the season with seven home runs as he plays primarily versus RHP. The DBacks face their fair share of RHP this week, making Joc a nice weekly stream.
David Hamilton (SS - BOS) - Hamilton has become the primary SS for the Red Sox, and he’s producing in a big way. Since May 17, Hamilton is hitting .322 with a home run and seven stolen bases. He’s an outstanding speed source with some batting average upside, making for a nice MI pickup for the coming weeks.
Adam Duvall (OF - ATL) - Duvall has gained most of the playing time since Acuña went on the IL. He has yet to light the world on fire, but he has hit safely in four of seven games with a home run. The skill set is there with Duvall, and the production will hopefully follow if you are looking for a major power boost for your lineups.
J.P. Crawford (SS - SEA) - Crawford has returned from the IL and is back as the Mariners' leadoff hitter. He’s hit safely in six of his last seven games, with four doubles and a home run while scoring five runs. Crawford makes for a nice MI target after Hamilton this week.
Andrew Vaughn (1B - CWS) - Crawford is riding a seven-game hitting streak into Saturday, hitting .370 with two home runs. Vaughn has struggled tremendously this season, but the skills are undeniable. If he’s figuring things out, Vaughn could be a nice CI option in most leagues.
Jose Miranda (3B - MIN) - Miranda remains a nice fantasy asset on the Twins, even with Royce Lewis back. Since May 15, Miranda has been hitting .296 with four home runs. Miranda may not be super flashy, but he’s a nice fantasy start in 12-team and deeper leagues.
Brendan Rodgers (2B - COL) - Rodgers has quietly been a fantasy stud of late. He has hit safely in 15 last 16 games for a .328 with two home runs and 12 RBI. Rodgers won’t run much, but an occasional home run with batting average assets is nice at 2B these days.
Kevin Pillar (OF - LAA) - Pillar has been producing since joining the Angels. He has been hitting .375 with six home runs and four stolen bases since May 1. The Angels face four LHP next week, which means Pillar has more opportunities.
Heliot Ramos (OF - SF) - Ramos is surging at the plate. Since he joined the Giants, he has been hitting .320 with five home runs and 20 stolen bases. He even collected a few more hits on Saturday, including his 6th home run. Ramos is one of the top OF adds this week.
Trevor Larnach (OF - MIN) - Larnach continues to produce for the Twins. He hits leadoff versus RHP and has hit .242 with three home and a stolen base over his last 11 games. Larnach is a great stream in weeks the Twins face a good amount of RHP, and they face five this week.
Jack Suwinski (OF - PIT) - Captain Jack is back and plays daily versus RHP. The Pirates have a loaded week versus RHP, so it is time to stream Jack.
Corey Julks (OF - CWS) - Julks has taken over as the leadoff hitter for the White Sox, and he entered Saturday riding an eight-game hitting streak. Over the eight games, Julks is hitting .333 with a home run while striking out 12% of the time. Julks is worth rostering while streaking like this, especially with all the RHP the White Sox will face this week.
Otto Lopez (2B - MIA) - Lopez has been a steady producer for the Marlins since he was called this season. He is hitting .296 with three home runs and four stolen bases and is now the primary 2B for the Marlins. He may appear a boring fantasy asset, but he’s consistently boring and should not be overlooked.
Jake McCarthy (OF - ARI) - The DBacks face a lot of RHP this week, which means McCarthy should see plenty of playing time; he’s hitting .275 since May 20 with a home run and six stolen bases. McCarthy is one of the better speed assets on the wire these days, especially on weeks like this, where he’ll face plenty of RHP.
Wilmer Flores (1B,3B - SF) - With LaMonte Wade on the IL, Flores has become the primary 1B for the Giants. Since May 21, he’s hitting .286 with three home runs. He’s even better versus LHP, and the Giants face their fair share of LHP this week. Flores is worth rostering with regular playing time, as he’s seeing these days.
Gio Urshela (1B,3B - DET) - With Torkelson sent to AAA, Urshela sees regular playing time with the Tigers. Over his last 11 games, he’s been hitting .278 with two home runs while striking out 10% of the time. Urshela is boring but provides a nice fantasy upside in deeper leagues.
Rob Refsnyder (OF - BOS) - Refsnyder continues to see regular at-bats for the Red Sox, and he entered Saturday riding a ten-game hitting streak. Over the ten games, Refsnyder is hitting .366 with a home run. He should be a target in deeper formats with some 12-team appeal.
FAAB/WW Pitching Targets (with quick thoughts)
Jeremiah Estrada (RP - SD) - Estrada has been dominant this season, allowing two runs over 20.2 innings with 34 strikeouts. Estrada can provide great ratios, strikeouts, and occasional wins. He’s a nice option on teams that may not have the best SP streams from week to week.
Jake Irvin (SP - WAS) - Irvin is having a strong season and has been great over his last four starts. He has allowed four earned runs over 24.1 innings pitched with 26 innings pitched. Irvin takes on the Tigers next week for a nice stream.
JP Sears (SP - OAK) - Sears has allowed two earned runs or less in four of his last seven starts. He only has 29 strikeouts over 40.1 innings pitched, but still provides some nice starts. Sears has a nice 2-step this week if you want a weekly accumulator.
Spencer Schwellenbach (SP - ATL) - Schwellenbach has allowed nine earned runs in his first two starts with nine strikeouts. He’s shown some good and some bad but has an intriguing 2-step this week.
Spencer Arrighetti (SP - HOU) - Arrighetti has improved in his last three starts. If he’s back on Monday, he’ll have a nice 2-step versus the Giants and Tigers next week. Check Sunday's latest news before locking him into your FAAB bids.
Patrick Sandoval (SP - LAA) - I’ll keep writing up Sandoval as many are not picking him up. There is likely some PTSD from previous seasons, but right now, Sandoval is looking good. He has used a pitch mix change to improve and allowed two earned runs or less in three of his last four starts. He takes on the Giants this week for an intriguing stream.
Max Meyer (SP - MIA) - There are rumors that Meyer may return soon, so the window to stash Meyer is shrinking.
David Peterson (SP - NYM) - Peterson has allowed two earned runs in each of his two starts since returning from the IL. He takes on the Marlins this week with a 2-step the following week, making for a nice pickup.
Cody Poteet (SP - NYY) - Poteet has allowed three earned runs over his three starts with 11 strikeouts over 15.2 innings pitched. He faces the Royals this week, but that may be his last start before Gerrit Cole returns.
Joey Estes (SP - OAK) - Estes has been solid in his last two starts by allowing one earned run over 11.1 innings pitched with ten strikeouts. He has a nice 2-step this week as he looks for continued success.

Hey what are your thoughts on Max Meyer being called up this week? Is he a stash target?
