2024 Early Starting Pitcher Rankings
The starting pitching position has been quite top-heavy in recent seasons, with a giant “glob” (h/t Paul Sporer and others) in the middle of drafts. In our Bubba and the Bloom positional reviews, we noticed the top starting pitchers provided a strong fantasy return, but the production became much spottier as the draft went on.
Starting pitching has those aces like Cole and Strider and then a close grouping behind them. Deciphering between Wheeler, Castillo, Burnes, and others is critical for your team’s fantasy ace. Or you can just wait till the later section of pitching.
Looking into 2024, it may be vital to draft one of the elite or near-elite pitchers to lock in innings and quality innings. There are still great options after, but as the podcasts discussed, it’s a lot more hit-and-miss the farther you go in drafts, and the SP pool eventually falls off a cliff.
Now, to the rankings. These are preliminary rankings. A LOT will change before the heavy draft season. Don’t worry; I’ll update frequently, and eventually, there will be a Google Doc you’ll have access to where you’ll see the constant updates. For now, this is a starting point and a tool for more open discussion. Enjoy!!!
Logan Webb is listed twice. #15 & 91. I believe someone else should be 91.
